The Ruins is the burned-out shell of an Italianate sugar baron's mansion in Talisay (30 minutes from Bacolod City). Built in the early 1900s by Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson in memory of his Portuguese wife Maria Braga who died young, the mansion was deliberately burned by Filipino guerrillas during WWII.

What remains is just the concrete skeleton — but it's strikingly beautiful. The Italianate columns, arched windows, and grand staircase are all still standing, surrounded by manicured lawns and gardens. Locals call it the Taj Mahal of Negros for its origin as a tribute of love.

Entry is PHP 120-180 depending on day. The site includes a small museum about the Lacson family, a souvenir shop, and a cafe. Best photos at golden hour (4-6 PM).

There's a popular nighttime visit option when the ruins are illuminated dramatically.
