Rizal Boulevard

Rizal Boulevard runs along Dumaguete's waterfront — a 1-kilometer promenade lined with acacia trees, restaurants, cafes, and benches facing the Bohol Sea. It's where Dumaguete locals walk in the evenings and where most of the city's social life happens.

The boulevard is named after José Rizal, who briefly visited Dumaguete in 1896 just before his execution. Statues and historical markers tell the story along the walkway.

Sunset is when the boulevard comes alive. Vendors set up grills for chicken inasal and pork barbecue, families bring out kids, students from Silliman University congregate at the cafes.

Combine with Silliman University Campus (the boulevard ends at one of the gates) for a 2-hour walk that captures the soul of Dumaguete.
