How do I get to Malapascua?
From Cebu City: 4-hour bus to Maya Port (PHP 200-300), then 30-minute boat to Malapascua (PHP 100). Total travel time 5-6 hours.
When can I see thresher sharks?
Year-round, but October to May is best. Dives go at 5 AM — sharks come to Monad Shoal at dawn. Sightings rate is about 95%.
Do I need to be an experienced diver?
Yes — Monad Shoal is at 25-30 meters depth. You need Advanced Open Water certification (or higher). Many dive shops offer the AOW certification course in Malapascua.
What else is there to do on Malapascua?
