Kalanggaman Island is a small uninhabited island northwest of Malapascua, technically part of Leyte province. It's known for two extraordinary white-sand sandbars that extend from each end of the small palm-tree-covered center.
The island is reached by 1.5-hour boat ride from Malapascua. Day trips are organized through Malapascua dive shops and resorts — typical price is PHP 2,500-4,000 per person including boat, lunch, and snorkel gear.
The island has no permanent buildings — just a few simple cottages for rent (PHP 500-800/day for shade), bamboo huts for changing, and basic toilets. Bring water, snacks, and reef-safe sunscreen.
The contrast with Malapascua's diving focus is dramatic — Kalanggaman is pure beach paradise, with white sand sandbars extending 200+ meters into turquoise water.
