Plaza Salcedo sits at the heart of historical Vigan — an elongated park flanked by the Vigan Cathedral (1574, one of the oldest churches in the Philippines) on one side and the Provincial Capitol on the other. It's named after Juan de Salcedo, the Spanish conquistador who founded Vigan in 1572.
The plaza's centerpiece is a dancing fountain that performs choreographed water-and-light shows every evening at 7:30 PM and 8:30 PM. The show lasts 15 minutes, draws crowds of 200-500 people, and is genuinely impressive — modern Filipino music synchronized with water jets and color-changing lights.
By day, the plaza is a quiet park with benches, statues, and the cathedral facade as backdrop. Walking from the plaza to nearby Calle Crisologo (5 minutes) covers the historical heart of Vigan in a half-day.
