Hidden Garden
Vigan's iconic plant-filled restaurant.
Hidden Garden is exactly what the name suggests — a sprawling restaurant set inside a working plant nursery on the outskirts of Vigan. The dining areas are open-air thatched-roof huts surrounded by hundreds of potted ornamental plants, with paths winding between them.
The food is regional Ilocano cuisine done well. Pinakbet (vegetables stewed with bagoong shrimp paste), bagnet (deep-fried crispy pork belly), and poqui-poqui (smoky eggplant dish) are the must-tries. The famous Vigan empanada is excellent here.
Prices are mid-range — PHP 200-400 per main dish. Portions are generous and meant for sharing. The setting alone justifies the visit; many Filipinos drive from Manila specifically to eat here.
Located 10 minutes by tricycle from Calle Crisologo, in a residential area with no other landmarks. Most travelers find the restaurant via Google Maps. Best at lunchtime when natural light filters through the plant canopy.
