Frequently asked questions
How do I get to Siargao?
Fly direct from Manila to Sayak Airport (IAO) — 2.5 hours, multiple daily flights via Cebu Pacific, PAL, and AirAsia. Alternatively fly via Cebu for cheaper fares when direct flights are sold out.
Where should I stay in Siargao?
General Luna is the main town — closest to Cloud 9, restaurants, and nightlife. Best for first-timers. Pacifico is quieter, 1 hour north, better for longer stays and intermediate surf.
Can beginners surf at Cloud 9?
Cloud 9 itself is for intermediate-to-advanced surfers — it's a powerful reef break. Beginners learn at Jacking Horse, Quicksilver, or Cloud 9 reef during specific tide windows. Multiple surf schools in General Luna teach beginners daily.
When is the best surf season?
August through November is peak surf season with the biggest swells. March through July still has good waves but smaller. December through February is the calmest period — better for beginners and non-surfers.
