Taal Volcano View
The famous volcano-within-a-lake, viewable from Tagaytay.
Taal Volcano is one of the Philippines' most famous landmarks — a small active volcano sitting in a lake, which itself sits inside a much larger ancient crater. From the Tagaytay ridge (technically in Cavite, but accessed from Batangas), the view is unforgettable.
Tagaytay sits 600 meters above sea level overlooking the Taal Lake caldera. The ridge has dozens of restaurants and viewpoints with the volcano view as the main attraction. Bag of Beans for breakfast, Antonio's Garden for special occasions, and Sonya's Garden for organic farm-to-table dining are the iconic spots.
Important note: Taal Volcano erupted in 2020 and remains active. The volcano island itself is currently off-limits to visitors. PHIVOLCS monitors activity closely.
Most travelers visit as a day trip combined with lunch at one of the ridge restaurants.
