Philippine Eagle Center

Sanctuary for the world's largest eagle.

Philippine Eagle Center

The Philippine Eagle is one of the world's largest and rarest eagles — a 1-meter-tall raptor with a 2-meter wingspan that exists only in the Philippines. There are fewer than 400 breeding pairs left in the wild. The Philippine Eagle Center in Davao is the country's main conservation facility, with about 30 eagles in protected enclosures.

Visitors walk through the forested 8-hectare grounds, viewing eagles in large enclosures designed to mimic their natural habitat. Knowledgeable guides explain breeding programs, conservation challenges, and individual eagles' histories.

The most famous resident was Pag-asa ("hope"), the first Philippine Eagle bred in captivity (1992-2021). His successors continue the breeding program — releasing offspring back into protected wild areas is the long-term goal.

Entrance fee is PHP 150 for adults. The center is 30 minutes from Davao City center. Guided tours are included. The visit takes 1.5-2 hours and pairs well with Eden Nature Park for a half-day outside the city.
