Dauin Dive Sites

Dauin is the diving hub 30 minutes south of Dumaguete — a long stretch of black-sand beach with dive resorts lined up shoulder-to-shoulder, all targeting one of the world's premier 'muck diving' destinations.

Muck diving means looking for tiny, weird, and rare critters in the sand — frogfish, mimic octopuses, ghost pipefish, mandarin fish, blue-ringed octopus, and pygmy seahorses. The black volcanic sand makes the colors of these creatures pop dramatically.

Dive packages from Dauin resorts range from PHP 1,800 per dive (with own gear) to PHP 3,500 per dive (full gear rental, transport, lunch).

Dauin is also the closest jumping-off point for Apo Island — a 30-minute boat ride versus the 45-minute trip from Dumaguete.
