Inland waterfall and natural pools.

Tangadan Falls

Tangadan Falls is the most popular inland attraction in La Union — a multi-tiered waterfall in San Gabriel, about 45 minutes from the beach areas of San Juan. The falls cascade into a large pool you can swim in, with cliff jumping spots for the brave.

The trek from the parking area takes 30-45 minutes through small rivers, slippery rocks, and a final scramble down to the falls. Wear quick-dry clothes; you'll be in and out of water multiple times before reaching the destination.

Once at the falls, you can swim in the main pool, climb to smaller upper-tier pools, or attempt the cliff jumps (5-12 meters depending on which platform you choose). Local guides are required (PHP 200-400 per group) and recommend safe entry points.

It's a half-day commitment from Urbiztondo. Most travelers go after a morning surf session, getting back in time for a late lunch. Avoid going during or right after heavy rain — the river crossings can become impassable.
