Panglao Island
Bohol's beach island with white sand and easy diving.
Panglao is a small island connected to Bohol's main island by a short bridge. It's where almost all of Bohol's beach resorts cluster, especially along Alona Beach — a 1.5km strip of white sand with restaurants, dive shops, and accommodations.
Alona is comparable to a quieter version of Boracay's Station 2 — beachfront dining, sunset cocktails, easy walking. The water is calm and shallow, good for families.
For quieter beaches, head to Dumaluan Beach (more upscale resorts) or Bolod Beach (mostly local). Both are 10-15 minutes from Alona by motorbike.
Diving is Panglao's other draw. Several dive sites are 10-20 minutes by boat: Balicasag Island for turtles and walls, Pamilacan Island for dolphin watching, and various shallow reefs for beginners. Dive shops cluster on Alona; expect PHP 2,000-3,500 per dive.
