Molo Church (Saint Anne)
A unique female-saint Gothic Renaissance church.
Molo Church (officially Saint Anne Parish Church) is one of Iloilo's most beautiful churches — and one of the only churches in the Philippines whose statues all depict women saints. The 1888 Gothic Renaissance structure has 16 statues of female saints inside, an unusual feature for Catholic churches of any era.
The exterior is striking white coral stone with twin spires reaching 30 meters. The interior has high ceilings, intricate woodwork, and beautiful stained glass. José Rizal himself visited in 1898.
The church is in Molo district — a small Chinese-Filipino enclave with a distinct character. Nearby is Plaza Molo with old-Iloilo charm and the famous Panaderia de Molo for traditional pastries.
