Magpupungko Rock Pools

Natural tidal pools only visible at low tide.

Magpupungko Rock Pools

On the eastern coast of Siargao, the Magpupungko Rock Pools appear only at low tide — at high tide, the ocean covers them completely. When the tide drops, a series of crystal-clear natural pools emerge between black volcanic rocks, creating one of the island's most photographed scenes.

The largest pool is about 2 meters deep — deep enough to jump into from the surrounding rocks (locals will show you the safe spots). Smaller pools are perfect for kids and non-swimmers.

Critical: check tide tables before going. The pools are only accessible roughly 6 hours per day around low tide. Most hotels in General Luna can tell you the day's tide schedule. Going at the wrong time means a 1-hour drive each way for nothing.

The area is about 1 hour from General Luna by motorbike or tricycle. Many travelers combine it with Pacifico Beach in the same day. Bring water shoes — the rocks are sharp.
